Earth Hour at Auberge du Soleil
On 31st March 2012, Auberge du Soleil, together with countless other, companies and cities worldwide, participated in Earth Hour, from 8:30pm to 9:30 pm.
Guests in the Auberge Restaurant enjoyed a delicious 4-course menu by Executive Chef Robert Curry. The staff served by candlelight for the duration of dinner service. The dining room was transformed to a breathtaking, romantic space, with only the light of twinkling candles.
Auberge du Soleil’s General Manager, Bradley Reynolds, said the campaign was held to acknowledge the importance of the environment. “Our hotel is committed to making a difference. This evening (March 31, 2012), all lights except essential lights in the hotel will be turned off from 8:30pm to 9:30pm,” he said.
The hotel not only participated in the activity itself but encouraged its staff to think and act green, making positive contributions to a sustainable earth. In-house guests were also encouraged to reduce their energy consumption during Earth Hour. A candle was left in each room with a note about Earth Hour and our Responsible Luxury initiatives.
The Auberge Spa offered 60 minute candlelight massages, which included an Auberge signature robe as a keepsake. After the massage, the guests were escorted to the front door with a candle to guide their way back to their room.
Hope you were able to participate in Earth Hour, this just goes to show what a difference an hour can make. Think about how you can make a difference.
