A Toast to Summer Solstice

Today is Summer Solstice, the first day of summer. According to Wikipedia, Summer Solstice, or the “first day of summer,” is “when the Earth’s axial tilt is most inclined towards the sun at its maximum of 23° 26′.” As a major celestial event, the Summer Solstice results in the longest day and the shortest night of the year.

 The sun is finally shining, and the terrace at Auberge du Soleil has never looked better!! Our famed Terrace was renovated earlier this year.  We have been touted as having the Best View in the Napa Valley and in response, decided to reinforce the Bistro and Bar Terrace, as well as the Restaurant Terrace to continue to accommodate our guests looking to enjoy the view from the top of the Valley.  

Toast to Summer Solstice with a sunset drink outside on our exquisite terrace – it is a must for any visitor to Napa Valley.

Our Cocktail Chef, Vincent Lee, is mixing up some fun summer creations.  The newest cocktail on our Bistro & Bar menu is the ‘Soleil Ray’.  The Soleil Ray is a light and refreshing drink.  It is a delightful blend of pomegranate vodka and mint.  The sauvignon blanc and muddled grapes add the perfect Napa Valley touch.  Come join us and unwind on our Terrace, or enjoy this cocktail in your own backyard until you can visit us in Napa again.

Soleil Ray, Auberge du Soleil, Bistro & Bar

 Ingredients:

1.5 oz   Charbay Pomegranate Vodka

1.5 oz   Unoaked Sauvignon Blanc

0.5 oz  Aperol

1 Barspoon   Simple Syrup

8-10  Grapes

5-6   Mint Leaves

 Method:

  • >  Muddle grapes and mint.
  • >  Add Vodka, Sauvognon Blanc, Aperol and Simple Syrup
  • >  Shake.
  • >  Strain over ice into a wine glass.
